DIRECT TRAINING FOR PROFESSIONALS
FASD Network UK has been a leading provider of training on FASD since 2010. Sessions can be provided to safeguarding and social work teams, midwives, health visitors, paediatricians and other medical staff, education, parents and carers, early years workers, and alcohol and prevention services amongst many others. We can offer short briefings, half day and full day training sessions as well as workshops and conference speakers. We can offer bespoke sessions and welcome your enquiries.
We have been running events in your local area since 2011 and connect with many hundreds of families. We are the only FASD regional organisation for the North East and Yorkshire and work strategically across the local authority areas. Please register with us and we will email you about all the local activities including family outings, caregiver support groups and training events. We have an open Facebook group called FASD Network UK where we post local community activities and events in the community. We also engage in a closed Facebook group called FASD UK which offers daily support for 1400 families. We would love to see you joining us via those groups.
LOCAL CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUPS
Support groups are specifically for those raising children or caring directly for children with FASD or suspected FASD. They are informal groups for people to get to know one another, build friendships, ask questions, problem solve and celebrate achievement. We rotate groups in different locations across the North East and Yorkshire so that everyone has a chance to attend an event in their local area. You are welcome to attend some or all of the groups so that you can meet new families across the north. You must email email@example.com to book your place and we will send you further details.
North - Northumbria, Tyneside, Wearside & Durham
Durham Tees Valley - Middlesbrough, Stockton, Redcar, Hartlepool and Darlington
Yorkshire - North, East and West Yorkshire and Kingston upon Hull
International FASD Day is 9th September and provides an opportunity to highlight FASD. Organisations across the region do something to raise awareness of FASD including stands in libraries, community awareness campaigns, posters in public places, media, magazine articles, training days. If you are planning to do something in the North East, let us know and we will try and support you with resources and local information.
